Contemporary designer Gabriel Charbit’s 321 Somersault Side Table is a unique shape shifter with the ability to be vertically spun into three different positions resulting in varying perspectives. The Somersault Table is the result of extensive research on how different materials, here concrete, glass and steel, interact with each other as light interacts with them. Each slab can be removed from the steel frame and customized with a variety of materials – glass, mirror, metal, wood – in an endless array of finishing options.
Driven by a passion for decontextualization, Charbit endeavors to transpose works into new settings. He finds fascination in landscapes, cultures, social norms, human characters, and their behaviors, as well as games.
