Description
The LLAVE / KEY collection are unique sculptures from a series of 7 sculptures called 'Towards the Event Horizon' which was part of an exhibition of the same name, by the artist couple Las Ánimas. In general relativity, the "event horizon" is a region of hyperspace that functions as a point of no return (the boundary of space-time) that once crossed prevents anything from going back. Gravitational wells where space-time collapses trapping light and matter.
The horizon is also the imaginary line that separates the visible, near and known, from the invisible, far away, the beyond. Our everyday, close and conscious reality (spatial, temporal, sensorial, palpable) versus the unknown. Like two sides of the same coin, or two parallel dimensions, the world of the material, popular, palpable, versus the magical, cosmic and ancestral. Establishing connections and master keys between one world and the other.
The creative universe of Las Ánimas starts from and seeks to make the mind wander, as an altered vision of reality, created through a language of minimalist, geometric and iterative patterns; to develop an iconography of retro-futuristic, transgressive, ceremonial and deeply evocative aesthetics through experimentation with different materials, shapes and textures.
The pieces transmit a parallel, dreamlike world, full of visions; of references to art, history, religion and the memories underlying popular culture, as triggers of the levers of their unconscious memory and of the collective memory. An aesthetic universe where sumptuousness, mysticism and magic come together, pieces of ceremonial character, volumes and resounding colours, textures and materials of high sensory impact emerge. -
