Description
A beautiful set of ''Chiavarine'' chairs produced in the 1950s by one the finest cabinetmaker in Chiavari: Colombo Sanguineti. Made in cherrywood and woven cane, they weight just 1.700kg each.
Probably the most well known model produced in Chiavari, the ''Campanino'' chair was originally designed in 1807 by Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi on a special request by the marquis Stefano Rivarola who wanted a modern and light chair for his mansion.
The success of the chair was immediate and long lasting too. It has been produced since then till nowadays and its light and sturdy construction inspired Gio Ponti in the creative process of two of him masterpieces: the Leggera chair in the early 50s and the Superleggera chair in the 1958.
With completely restored and french polished frames and new hand-knotted woven cane (**) seats they are ready to last for the years to come.
Dimensions: 37 x 37 x 84 cm [DxWxH].
** We are established in Chiavari and our in-house caning workshop is proud to be one of the last which painstakingly operates following the ancient Chiavari's techniques. -
