Classical bronze sculpture of a Medici lion. Italian, third quarter of the 19th century.
The Medici lion(s) are two lions carved with paws on orbs, a symbol of the world, one carved in the second century AD and the other in the 16th century.
They were a popular purchase for people on the Grand Tour. -
