Pair of large French malachite vases

French, 20th Century

Height 77cm, diameter 50cm

Of campagna form, this stylish pair of vases is crafted from malachite and gilt bronze. A malachite veneer covers the entirety of the vases, its bright green hue and varied natural patterns ensure the vases are true statement pieces. Each one includes an ebonised stone inset in which plants could be displayed. The vases stand on four gilt bronze feet which add a subtle gold feature complementing the bright green bodies.

Centuries ago, malachite was believed to ward off evil spirits but now is considered as the ‘stone of transformation’. Its presence in a space aids in the spread of positive energy.

This pair of vases would magnificently fit in both indoor and outdoor surroundings.
