French 1730s Régence Painted Console Table with Carved Apron and Cabriole Legs
-
Description
A French Régence period painted wood console table from the early 18th century, with cabriole legs, carved apron and nicely weathered patina. Created in France during the transition of power between the Sun King and his great grandson and heir Louis XV who was still too young to reign, this painted console table features a rectangular top sitting above a beautifully carved apron, scalloped on all sides. Boasting a great patina, the table is raised on four cabriole legs whose sinuous lines compliments the apron's beautifully. Showcasing a peg construction, the table belongs to the Régence period that introduced the love for curves that will fully develop under the Louis XV rococo period. The table is painted in a distressed light grey color with lots of wood coming through. With its elegant Régence lines and great rustic character, this French painted wood console table circa 1730 will make for a lovely addition to any living room!.
