Description
A small Tuscan sideboard in walnut and oak, eighteenth century. Tuscany produced some of the most characterful small-scale case furniture of the eighteenth century — pieces made for modest provincial households that combined honest construction with the restrained ornamental vocabulary of the region's long craft tradition.
The combination of walnut and oak in a single piece is characteristic of Tuscan rural cabinetmaking, where secondary woods were employed for structural elements while walnut was reserved for the visible surfaces. The small format makes this a versatile accent piece — suited to an entrance hall, bedroom, or study where a full-size sideboard would be disproportionate.
The surfaces have developed the deep, warm patina of genuinely aged Tuscan hardwood furniture, the piece in good stable condition throughout. A charming and authentic example of eighteenth-century Tuscan provincial cabinetmaking.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
