Pair of Italian Modern Neoclassical End or Side Tables / Nightstands, Gio Ponti
-
Description
A Rare and Exceptional Pair of Italian Mid-Century Modern Neoclassical End or Side Tables / Night Stands Attributed to the Italian design master, Gio Ponti. The tables are incomparable in their pure style, elegant lines and form, combination of beautiful materials, craftsmanship and functionality. The first thing one notices about these tables is their bright magnetic energy and refined sense of line, form and balance. They are composed in matched walnut with a top of reverse painted glass that is hand gilt (an ancient process known as verre eglomisse). The legs define the pieces with their sharply tapered lines and are counter-balanced with brilliant brass detailing and sabots. The drawers are dovetailed and are finished with brass ring pulls. In addition, the pieces are also multi-functional as Nightstands, End or Side tables. Dimensions: H 21.5" x W 23.5" x D 13". In sum, they are design masterpieces of both timeless energy and restraint.
