Description
The brothers-in-law Ernst Engert and Hunt Diederich each had independent and collaborative success as modern masters of the cutout silhouette. By the time Diederich met Engert in 1911, Diederich had already established himself with exhibitions in Paris and America. Engert meanwhile had an artistic career of his own - living in Berlin, performing shadow cabarets, and aligning himself with a group of Secession artists in Darmstadt Germany. By the late 1920’s they were collaborating, with Diederich designing and Engert cutting.
