Walt Disney Enterprises "Pinocchio" Wind-Up Toy by Marx Toy Co., N.Y. Dated 1939

$ 785
  • Description
    Fabulous condition and in perfect working order on this "Walt Disney Enterprises" copyrighted (labeled---see image) vintage wind-up toy of the iconic Disney character "Pinocchio", dated "1939". Clearly marked as such, as well as "Marx Toy Company" manufacture with corresponding logo (back shoulder), this charming toy is lithographed in bright crisp colors of red, blue, white, charcoal, and yellow;with movable blue eyes nearly complete coverage. You will not have to upgrade this example; it is from my own collection.

    To operate: wind up the attached clockwork key several times and place on a flat surface. "Pinocchio" rocks back and forth while shuffling forward slowly across the floor, as his eyes move up and down. Works like new (See video attached to this listing).

    Dimensions: 8 1/2" high x 3" wide x 3" deep

    Provenance: Clive Devenish Collection; acquired 1990

    Note: After 40 plus years of dealing and collecting toys, I am justly qualified to guarantee and present the authenticity of antique and vintage toys and children's playthings; important considering the fakes and reproductions in the marketplace. My toys operate properly and are as stated and accurately described.

    it would behoove an enterprising collector, dealer, or decorator to take advantage of the opportunity to buy as many of the vintage tin toys that I have listed for sale; it would create an immediate quality collection, as most of these toys came, either from a long time premium California collection or from my own shelves. It would take quite some time and effort to accumulate toys this clean, authentic, original, operable and in excellent condition.

We are specialists in the field of antique mechanical coin banks. These rare and unique items were sold during the late 1800's and early 1900's to encourage and educate young children on the importance of saving money, with the majority of them having been made in America. We are leading experts in this field and one of the foremost dealers, having traded in mechanical banks since 1976.
