  • Description
Teak chest of drawers by André Monpoix, Meubles TV edition, made at the end of the 1950s. A functional piece opening with three drawers on the front, the first being compartmentalized. Its black lacquered metal base with a square section, combined with chrome metal handles, adds a touch of modernity to its design. The 812 model has become a classic, prized by enthusiasts for its elegant modernity and its dimensions. Its rarity on the market highlights the exceptional quality of the wood and its magnificent color. The designer plaque and manufacturer's label are visible in the first drawer, authenticating this exceptional piece.

André Monpoix (1925-1976): After graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 1949, André Monpoix completed an internship in the workshops of René Gabriel. In 1951, he continued his career by joining the agency of Jacques Dumond. His career experienced a major turning point when he collaborated with the publisher Meubles TV, quickly becoming an exclusive creator of the brand alongside Alain Richard. His work is distinguished by contemporary lines and a bold combination of wood and metal in the furniture. In 1962, André Monpoix was awarded the prestigious René Gabriel prize, establishing his lasting influence in the world of French design.

Meubles TV : The company founded by Robert Vecchione, son of an Italian cabinetmaker. To establish his business in France, he used the name of his workshop manager, Jean Tricoire, hence the initials “TV”. His collaboration with the journalist specializing in Decorative Arts, Lucien Veillon, in the early 1950s, opened the doors for him to meet young creators from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) and the Camondo school. Meubles TV will publish the first productions of Pierre Paulin, Janine Abraham and Pierre Guariche, without forgetting André Monpoix and Alain Richard.
