Engraved plates. A delightful family bible following the King James Version, illustrated with 24 engraved plates depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments, and 6 maps and plans of the Holy Land. With an unused illuminated family register, and the original metal clasps in full working order.
Large 4to (34 x 26.5 cm); additional illuminated title, illuminated unused family register, 24 engraved plates including frontispiece, 6 maps and plans of the Holy Land in colour, small tears to pp595, 597 and 599, a little spotting, otherwise internally clean; black morocco, fielded relief in gilt to upper panel, tooled in blind, gilt lettering to spine, embossed brass corner-pieces and clasps, all edges gilt. -
