Description
This mesmerizing creation is excellent not only in terms of design but also in respect of execution. The sublime piece was thoroughly hand-crafted of the finest pashmina in accordance with old and refined weaving techniques by a skilled artisan who had to know exactly how to handle such a valuable material. Pashmina is a high quality cashmere wool which was first made into a textile in the famous Kashmir region. Its Persian name literally translates into “soft gold” which fully reflects the nature of this heavenly thread and may help one visualize the palpable sensation evoked by touching its ultimately soft and sheen texture. It also aptly describes the character of this fantabulous traditional today rug . Its pile is a sheer pleasure for the senses that pampers eyes, feet and hands in equal measure. The subtle pashmina threads were colored with natural dyes which is confirmed by a slight Abrash effect visible in some areas of the field. The deep sapphire hue of the background was complemented by a lighter yet toned blue shade of the pattern. Although traditional-inspired, the design perfectly fits into contemporary aesthetics and will match a wide variety of interior arrangements, from classic to modern. Moreover, due to the thorough making, the modern carpet textures has a chance to serve its lucky owners for many generations. This one-of-a-kind gem-like creation may imbue any room with its palatial glamour and timeless elegance. Within our new and custom Traditional Rugs collection we have a broad selection of Samarkand rugs generally made in unusually large sizes. Sumptuous in nature and appearance some of our Samarkand rugs are woven with recycled strands of wool from early central Asian Kilims. This eco-friendly blending of the old with the new conveys a sensual quality of the color and the weave that is unique within the rug industry. Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of original modern rugs in many styles and materials. Contemporary hand-made rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization.
