Description
This contemporary flat weave rug, although inconspicuous in terms of design, makes an astonishing impression. The appreciation of simplicity has been an ongoing trend since the beginning of the 20th century and this carpet fits perfectly in the modernist aesthetics. Its plain, almost austere field is maintained in a single light beige color, but devoid of any pattern. What adds an interesting touch is the fringe on the longer borders of the modern area rug, in the form of little braids. The whole composition, hand knotted of the finest wool, may evoke associations with Scandinavian weaving art. The impressive size helps to fully appreciate the craft and skill put into the creation of this remarkable flat-weave. Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of original modern rugs in many styles and materials. Contemporary hand-made rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization.
