George Nakashima for Widdicomb Model 200-66w "Sundra" Coffee Table Rosewood/Burl
-
Description
Designed by American icon George Nakahsima, this coffee table was made for Widdicomb. In the 1960s, Widdicomb allowed Nakashima design to reach more people with more attainable pricing compared to the hyper-exclusive custom one-off Studio pieces. As expected of Widdicomb, the quality is still top-notch with the benefits of a tested design. Made of a frame of solid Brazilian Rosewood, the center is inlaid with beautifully figured maple burl. The surface is nearly two inches thick, and is set on more solid Rosewood legs, carved and shaped to a tapering oval. No expense was spared during construction.
This piece was restored a number of years ago by an expert at Rago Arts in Pennsylvania. As such, the condition is nearly immaculate, with no flaws that we could find or turned up during photography. Pictured here with one of our early LCW chairs to provide a sense of scale and height. -
