Ralph Fasanella’s depiction of a dining room with a family gathered drinking espresso and enjoying a cheese plate features several different perspectives and viewpoints.
Through the interior space overcrowded with furniture and other items are a view of an apartment building with tenants in the windows and a view of the neighboring streetside apartment buildings as well. Focusing on family bonds and the lives of Italian-Americans, the artist’s work emphasizes the importance of kinship within the neighborhoods of New York City. -
