Sabino Guisu

Mexican, 1986
Sabino Guisu (b. 1986, Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca, Mexico) is a contemporary Mexican multidisciplinary artist known for his experimental approach to materials and process-based works that merge painting, sculpture, and installation. His practice draws deeply from Zapotec heritage, Indigenous cosmology, and the visual language of pre-Hispanic cultures, reinterpreting them through modern techniques such as smoke drawing, fire, ash, and organic matter.

Guisu’s work explores the relationship between nature, memory, ritual, and transformation, often using elemental forces as both medium and subject. He has exhibited internationally and is recognized for creating visually powerful, conceptually layered works that bridge ancestral traditions with contemporary artistic expression.
