Description
An English late Victorian epergne from the 19th century, with silver base and crystal vase. Born in England during the second half of the 19th century, this exquisite centerpiece features a Rococo inspired silver candlestick with scrolling motifs, resting on a tripartite base with beaded accents. All in curves, the lower section leads the eye to the delicate crystal vase, etched with foliage details. Particularly praised from the mid-19th century period, epergnes were quintessential Victorian centerpiece items, used to either display fruits, desserts or flowers.
