One of 20 copies - signed & inscribed by the author. Number 16 of only 20 copies, signed by the author and additionally inscribed, 'For Lovelace Anthony Stamer with all good wishes for his future happiness from Evelyn Waugh, 1st January 1948'.
This touching note from Waugh to Stamer commemorates the day of his wedding to Stella Huguette Binnie. The book comprises a collection of travel essays recounting his travels to various parts of the world including West Africa, Mexico, British Guiana and Brazil. It offers a witty and insightful account of his experiences, observations and encounters with the people and cultures he met during his travels.
First edition, number 16 of 20 copies, signed and inscribed by the author; 8vo; colour frontispiece portrait of the author, internally fine; publisher's burgundy cloth, gilt lettering to spine, burgundy topstain, burgundy endpapers, some discolouration to spine and edges, else very good. -
