Description
A French Louis XVI period giltwood mirror from circa 1790 with kissing doves and foliage décor. Crafted in France around 1790, this exquisite French Louis XVI period giltwood mirror was likely a wedding gift given its romantic motifs. At the crest, the mirror is adorned with two kissing doves, symbolizing love and unity, taking center stage within a laurel wreath. This laurel wreath is flanked by a torch and an arrow, signifying enlightenment and passion. Large, foliage-themed scrolls gracefully complete the ensemble, creating a harmonious and intricate design.
The mirror features a clear mirror plate, providing a reflection that enhances its decorative appeal. Surrounding the inner frame are petite bead motifs, adding a delicate and refined touch to the overall design. The giltwood finish exudes a warm, luxurious glow, highlighting the intricate carvings and craftsmanship.
This French Louis XVI period giltwood mirror would make a stunning addition to any room, whether placed in a living room, bedroom, or hallway. Its romantic and elegant design, combined with its historical significance, ensures it will be a cherished focal point in any home, evoking the grace and sophistication of 18th-century French artistry. -
