Description
Resting on four very elegant feet the clock features a rectangular base decorated on three sides with classical motifs. The face features a pair of Sphinx flanking a wreath with laurel branches and ribbons.
The porcelain clock face is surrounded by a beautifully chased repeating acanthus leaf design on an ovoid fluted column topped with a detailed sundial. Resting gently on the column is the figure of a young lady in classical dress contemplating the contents of a letter she has just read and is holding in her hand. -
