Description
A large decal of an American Flag is pasted on the interior of a New York City bus. Street Photographer Mitchell Funk captures a close-up of the bus as it passes by on the street. The reversed image of the flag is the center of a tight composition delineated in primary colors. To the right, we see a blurred semi-sihoutted image of a young man who looks directly at the viewer, evoking a sense of mystery. Over the past 55 years, Mitchell Funk's groundbreaking contribution to street photography was to execute the meticulous compositions and precision lighting that is usually the domain of studio photography. In the work, "American Flag on New York City Bus", Funk elevates his distinctive style to a perfect artistic statement - where every pictorial element is in perfect harmony. The notion of capturing the "The Decisive Moment" still exists but as defined by Funk.
This archival color photograph by fine art photographer Mitchell Funk is signed, dated and numbered 2/15, lower right recto. Other sizes are available and the fine art photograph is unframed and printed later. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper
