Three-Seater Mid-Century Modern Sofa by Berga Möbler, Sweden 1940s

Designed in the early phase of what we know today as mid-century modern, this charming sofa is unique evidence of how traditional Swedish craftsmanship was brought into modernism. Berga Möbler, later called Berga Form, began manufacturing furniture of the highest quality in 1896. They were represented in the important Swedish exhibition H55 in 1955. The company was located in Berga, Smaland, in the south of Sweden, where they manufactured their furniture using the best materials and with particular attention to the environment. A functional anchor piece is needed to introduce mid-century modern furniture to any interior, and this three-seater sofa is perfect to fill that role.

This sofa holds all the characteristics that define the manufacturer's style: soft, organic, playful, and sophisticated. The sofa is slightly tilted backwards by the tapered front legs distinctly bent outwards. They have a precise curvature towards the end, which has become a distinctive feature of Berga Möbler's designs. Condition:
