Description
The 20th century witnessed the rise of exceptional Italian furniture makers who left an indelible mark on the world of design. Their innovative creations and visionary approach continue to inspire and influence the designs of the furniture industry to this day.
With elegance and functionality at the core of the design, there is an unmistakable Italian vibe to this pair of chairs. Just as with Scandinavian mid-century design, Italian design liked to blend form with function. These chairs feature sensually curved and linear wooden frames that contrast beautifully with the thick, fully upholstered seats and backs. There is a perfect balance between the horizontal and the vertical lines, and between the different materials. Further strengthening the transition into a more minimalist modern aesthetic, these chairs don’t feature any additional ornamentation besides the increased breadth of the curved armrests for extra support. The streamlined design of the wood structure immediately stands out for its pronounced lines and airy construction; it shows off the architectural precision put into both the design and the execution. The design of mid-century chairs can have a significant impact on the mood and ambiance of a space. Their clean lines and organic, high-quality materials and forms can create a sense of calm and order, while their timeless elegance adds a touch of sophistication.
The outstanding visual character of this pair of armchairs is both traditional and modern. This is precisely the charm of Italian mid 20th-century pieces: the effortless blend of design styles, paired with the highest quality of craftsmanship.
