Description
This rare and highly sought after Mid-Century Modernist Spring Festival Bronze Cocktail Table is signed Philip and Kelvin Laverne and originates from the United States, Circa 1960. Philip and Kelvin Laverne are highly regarded, and together designed and fabricated some of the most beautiful and sought after Mid-Century Furniture Pieces in existence. Their goal was to make functional art, to which they succeeded in the highest degree. They marketed and sold their work to a highly discerning and elite international market, both during their period of production and as coveted vintage pieces. This motif of this cocktail table is entitled Spring Festival, and depicts a Chinese landscape scene reminiscent of painted compositions on traditional scrolls, utilizing an isometric grid depicting buildings and figures without the western use of a vanishing point, allowing the scene to unroll and develop with remarkable width and strength to the composition, all the figures and their interactions visible simultaneously. Rectangular in form and in a stunningly patinated bronze with the design achieved utilizing silvered metal, brass, and stimulating use of minerals and chemical interactions to produce breathtaking colored details, flecks of reds, greens, blues, yellows all peaking through this largely bronze and grounded piece. This statement piece will style beautifully in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Mid-Century Modernist to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors, is in Excellent Vintage Condition.
