Description
Pair of English Neoclassical style silver candlesticks by Edward Barnard & Sons
English, 1919
Height 13cm, diameter 16cm
This elegant pair of candlesticks, crafted by the esteemed English silversmith Edward Barnard & Sons in 1919, exemplifies the refined quality characteristic of early 20th-century British silverware. Edward Barnard & Sons, one of London’s most respected silversmithing firms, traces its roots back to the 1680s and is known for producing beautifully crafted silver inspired by classical and neoclassical aesthetics.
Each candlestick showcases a sleek, polished surface adorned with subtle fluting along its tapering columns and rests on gracefully rounded bases. Distinctive raised bands add a layer of sophistication to the design, enhancing their timeless appeal. Both pieces bear a full set of hallmarks, including the maker’s mark, the lion passant, the city mark, and a date letter, ensuring their authenticity and historical value.
This pair is a superb example of British silversmithing at its finest, making a wonderful addition to any collection of antique silver or a tasteful accent for an elegant home.
