Description
19th century German sterling silver chafing dish
German, 19th Century
Height 23cm, width 42cm, depth 30cm
The chafing dish in Mayfair Gallery’s collection is crafted from sterling silver and showcases a charming Victorian design. With its clever design, this type of dish helps maintain the warmth of the food for extended periods.
The base is supported by four gracefully shaped legs, each finishing with durable wood feet. The legs' knees and the edges of the base are embossed with delicate floral and scrolling patterns, adding a touch of elegance. Four stretchers extend from the legs, leading toward the flame holder.
Inside the chafing dish, there is a large tray with handles, along with two smaller trays for added versatility. The lid, which is topped with twin handles, mirrors the ornate detailing of the base, creating a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing design.
The piece is fully hallmarked, indicating its high quality.
This timeless chafing dish would make an exquisite addition to any dinner gathering, bringing both beauty and functionality to one’s table.
