Carl-Gustaf Hiort Af Ornäs Pair of Pedro Armchairs in White, Puunveisto 1950s
-
Description
Carl-Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs was known as the master of shapes. It's said that in his designs he always strived to make the objects beautiful from all angles, and the Pedro armchair is one of such examples.
The chairs highly resemble the iconic Siesta chair with the leg shape and reclining back, but this model has a lower back and a smaller feel to it. The chairs are upholstered in natural white soft wool fabric.
Carl-Gustaf "Nalle" Hiort af Ornäs (1911–1996) was a Finnish interior architect and designer, known especially for his Siesta armchair, which appeared in 1952. In 1945, Hiort af Ornäs founded Puunveisto Oy, for which he developed versatile techniques for processing plywood. Hiort af Ornäs spent his retirement years in Spain, where he designed several buildings in the Los Pacos neighborhood in Fuengirola, popular with Finns. -
