A wonderful wrought iron floor candleholder made by Taidetakomo Hakkarainen in Finland in the 1930s. The candleholder is solid iron and features a beautiful decorative design with hanging leaf ornaments and spiral arms. The condition is consistent with its age and use, and the item is understandibly heavily patinated. The overall impression is good and is without any losses or replacements,
Antti Hakkarainen was a master metal worker and designer for his prominent company Taidetakomo Hakkarainen Oy. It was one of the main competitors to Taito and later for Idman and Orno, especially in domestic lighting although they did a few public projects. The company had a range of top Finnish designers working and commissioning lamps and other furniture there.
