Description
Two Russian cut glass and silver centrepiece tazze
Russian, 1908-1917
Height 28cm, diameter 28cm
These exquisite tazze were created in Russia in the early 20th Century, between 1908-1917. The tazze can be used to serve canapés or sweetmeats or enjoyed as purely decorative items.
The tazze feature wide and shallow saucer-like dishes, which are finely crafted from cut glass. With their lobed and scalloped edges, and petal-like cut designs, the dishes imitate flowers in full bloom. These are supported on silver stems, with leafy tops. The stems are shaped and fluted, their lower sections encircled by laurel wreath bands, and their bases gadrooned. These silver stems terminate in splayed feet. The silver tazze are fully hallmarked and feature the maker's initials 'H.K'. -
