This wonderful lime green glass decanter was crafted in Bohemia—a historic region which now forms part of the Czech Republic—in the late 19th Century. The piece was created for the Persian (modern-day Iranian) market.

The decanter features an ovoid body with a cylindrical, knopped neck and flared mouth. This is covered by a stopper with a panelled base, a knopped centre and a conical tip. The decanter is crafted from green coloured glass and is finely decorated with swirling gilt patterns, jewel-like gilt raised beads, and colourful enamelled flowers. Its body features, on its centre front, a detailed bust portrait of Mozaffar al-Din Shah, the Qajar king of Persia from 1896-1907. This portrait is set within an oval gilt frame which is encircled by gilt beads.
