Description
A Chinese Export, Qing Dynasty Large Cloissone Enamel Bowl marked with the metal stamp of the Emperor Qianlong (1735-1795) on the bottom. This large and magnificent work features a rare and vibrant color pattern and is decorated with symbols including lotus flowers on a brilliant orange background. The bowl exemplifies superior craftsmanship and an intricate design focusing on the cycle of life. It beautifully traces the transition from caterpillar to butterfly, from youth to maturity, in the midst of a richly colorful, sublime nature. It sits on a round cobalt blue base, complimentary to the piece. Furthermore, the work is large, functional and versatile in traditional, modern and contemporary interiors. It color palette , form and thematic content are compelling and it works as a table top or decorative display item and can also work as an urn, jardiniere, planter or cachepot. Dimensions: H: 7" x D: 15.75".
Documentation: An incised copper plaque, a symbol of the Emperor, Qianlong (1735-1795,) is fixed to the bottom of base. (See last photo).
