Samarkand Rug
-
Description
A one-of-a-kind modern rug, available at Doris Leslie Blau. This modern Samarkand rug draws inspiration from traditional Samarkand designs. The rug showcases a harmonious blend of beige and blue hues, the neutral beige provides a calming backdrop, while the blue accents add depth and visual interest, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal. The grid of pomegranate motif is central to this rug’s design. Historically, in Oriental rug-making traditions, the pomegranate symbolizes fertility and abundance, attributed to its numerous seeds contained within the fruit. This motif is prevalent in East Turkestan rugs, where it’s known as “liuka baiza” and often used in all-over patterns. Incorporating this symbol, the rug imbues the piece with cultural significance, representing prosperity and plenitude.
Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of original modern rugs in many styles and materials. Contemporary handmade rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization. Doris Leslie Blau offers a broad and varied pricing spectrum, accommodating collectors and designers across a range of budgets—from modest vintage finds to rare, museum-worthy masterpieces. -
