Polychrome Lucky Fish

$ 288
  • Description
    Hand-crafted from reclaimed wood, this artisanal koi sculpture is a traditional symbol of harmony and luck. For Buddhists, such a fish represents a freedom from all restraints. The fish is sculpted with a squat, rounded body and decorated with colorful pigments in a palette of white, yellow and red, lightly faded to a shade of pink. A split in the wood to one side is lovingly mended with iron staples in the spirit of "ju ci," the traditional art of repairing broken ceramics with iron pins and staples. Set on a custom steel mount, the provincial koi charms with bright color and a beautifully worn texture. // Depth: 4.5"
