Description
The 20th century was period when some of the most popular, and iconic design movements emerged. The Art Deco movement for instance, elevated the status of everyday objects through bold, geometric forms, sleek figures, and material wealth and sophistication. Modernism, on the other hand, emphasized clean lines, simple shapes and organic materials to achieve functionality. This movement dominated the design world with its popularity, and influenced the creation of many pieces, like these armchairs.
This timeless pair of chairs boasts a beautiful frame that highlights European craftsmanship, steeped in 20th century elegance. Made with meticulous attention to detail, their geometric shape is further highlighted by the beautiful material choices. The chairs feature upholstered bodies, embracing the era’s principle of comfort without sacrificing style. The light, off-white fabric, with its blue stripes is beautifully framed by the chair’s armrests. The wooden overlay placed on either arm adds a gentle visual contrast to the textile, at the same time highlighting the captivating look of both materials. The design is completed by four robust, square feet, in a dark stain, which provide a sense of stability and durability, ensuring that this pair will keep standing the test of time.
20th century design often incorporated geometry and skilled craftsmanship to create timeless pieces. The work of European furniture makers resulted in a balanced aesthetic that is sure to be a beautiful addition to any interior, as shown by this pair of armchairs.
