French 19th Century Solid Oak Trestle Table
-
Description
Dimensions: 38 ¾” H x 105 ⅞” W x 31 ¼” D
A monumental 19th century French oak dining table with unique decorative elements in the trestle base. Impossibly heavy, the top planks are 2” thick old-growth wood including dense grain patterns and knots left by the pre-industrial milling technology–preserving the wonderful, organic texture on every surface. The two linear boards are capped on the short ends by perpendicular planks in breadboard formation. Typical of refectory type tables, the two support legs are deep and wide for an interesting profile from every angle including serif-like appendages hanging from the underside. A large stretcher (71 ¾” long) spans the distance in between the legs that should reasonably fit up to three dining chairs. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this truly remarkable dining table is ready to join your interior. Please view the detailed images. -
