Novelty sterling silver baby bowl on plate. Made by McChesney in Newark, ca 1920. Bowl curved with flared mouth rim. Plate round with plain deep well. On bowl, acid-etched frames depicting the midnight ride of Paul Revere. His house, the North Church, and crossing the Charles river are shown. On plate shoulder are the first two stanzas of Longfellow’s poem. Both bowl and plate have vacant frames between lanterns for making a personal announcement. A wonderful pair that celebrates a silversmith and his contribution to the American Revolution.
Fully marked including maker’s stamp and no. W13/T37. Very good condition with strong definition.
