Description
Depth: 17.5" // With clean lines and balanced proportions, these 19th-century tall back chairs exemplify the refined forms of Ming-dynasty furniture design. The chairs are designed after the 'southern official's hat chair,' defined by high rectangular backs, rounded corners, and no protruding crest rail. However, this pair deviates from tradition with the omission of arm railings and two curved back spindles in lieu of a back yoke. The back stiles curve in the opposite direction as the back yoke, creating an elegant interplay of lines. Subtle metal fittings reinforce the top corners and contrast the richly patinated brown lacquer finish.
