Description
A Rare and Elegant Pair of Italian Mid-Century Organic Modern Armchairs / Lounge Chairs Designed by Gio Ponti for "Casa e Giardino" and Presented at the VI Triennale di Milano, 1936. The aesthetic of these two armchairs is sublime. "The fluid lines connecting the armrests to the backrest appear almost shaped by the wind, with a subtle aerodynamic quality characteristic of the design explorations of the 1930s. The unmistakable hand behind the design is Gio Ponti. His style during this period is of particular interest, long studied and endlessly referenced. These very armchairs were featured in the Casa e Giardino catalogue, which offers invaluable insight into Ponti’s unique design approach at the time". The chairs are not restored, however their walnut frames are solid and strong and the pieces simply need new upholstery and these chairs are ready to be reintroduced as distinctive design pieces suited to contemporary interiors. .Dimensions: H 30 x W 33 x D 32”
