Description
Pair of maple wood bedside tables, bean-shaped, with glass tops and brass details, design attributed to Paolo Buffa, Italian manufacture, 1950s.
Delicate, minute, yet undeniably charming. Welcoming this pair of bedside tables into your home means inviting a touch of elegance, refinement, and just the right hint of irony—something never out of place in a bedroom setting.
Crafted from a particularly light-toned maple wood, the surfaces reveal deep natural reflections, enhancing the noble character of this aristocratically elegant material.
Take a closer look: the gently bean-shaped silhouette—with a concave back and straight front—softens the design, freeing it from harsh edges and angular lines. Each table rests on four slender, tall legs and features both drawers and cabinet doors, offering smart internal organization.
The glass top and the white opaline surface at the base are subtle nods to the emphasis on hygiene that was still very much part of domestic habits around 1950.
The design clearly reflects the style of Paolo Buffa, the renowned Milanese architect whose work helped shape Italian design in the first half of the 20th century. His soft lines, light colour palette, and distinctive decorative sensibility remain relevant and appreciated today—a testament to his vision of domestic interiors where elegance and warmth coexist harmoniously.
