Pair of antique English cut glass decanters with silver-plated stand
English, 1867
Decanters: Height 31cm, diameter 11cm
Stand: Height 24cm, width 27cm, depth 13cm
This elegant Victorian decanter set, registered in January 1867, is a fine representation of 19th century British artistry in glass and silver-plated metalwork.
Presented in a beautifully engraved silver-plated stand, the set features two matching cut glass decanters, each showcasing refined craftsmanship. The bodies are adorned with intricately cut decorative patterns, while the tall, slender necks are finished with spear-shaped stoppers. One of the stoppers is slightly shortened due to a missing portion, which is restorable if desired.
The silver-plated frame includes a central handle, making it easy to carry and move. Its surface is detailed with ornamental scrollwork and naturalistic engravings, capturing the ornate aesthetic of the Victorian era. The stand rests on four stylised feet.
To the underside of the base, a British design registration lozenge mark confirms the model’s registration on 7 January 1867. Several additional hallmarks also appear.
Stylish and historically rich, this handsome decanter set brings a touch of Victorian sophistication to any setting. -
