Late 18th Century Italian Directoire Chest of Drawers in Walnut, Veneto Region
-
Description
A striking late 18th century Directoire chest of drawers from the Veneto region, crafted in solid walnut with clean, architectural lines and refined detailing. This Italian commode features three spacious drawers with original oval brass pulls and escutcheons, all framed by a subtly fluted façade that adds rhythm and dimension to its minimalist form.
The fluting continues across the upper and lower bands, offering a sculptural balance to the rich warmth of the walnut. The top surface reveals a beautiful grain with a natural patina developed over centuries.
Tapered legs lend an elegant lift to the structure, typical of the transitional Directoire style, bridging late Neoclassical symmetry with emerging 19th-century refinement. A timeless and versatile piece that brings structure and character to any setting, from a clean-lined modern interior to a classically layered space.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
