Antique Gorham Edwardian Sterling Silver Boy’s Expedition Baby Cup
-
Description
Edwardian sterling silver pictorial baby cup. Made by Gorham in Providence, ca 1920. Straight sides and reeded c-scroll handle. Interior gilt washed. On underside engraved interlaced script monogram.
Chased scene of boy’s procession marching single file: The cavalry, in the person of a hop-a-long hobby-horse rider, follows a bugle-blowing hobo, who is preceded by a solitary representative of the flag corps, who in turn is just a few steps behind the drummer. An expedition under the leadership of a diminutive rifleman. The picket fence in the background suggests they’ll all be home in time for dinner.
Fully marked including maker’s stamp and no. A4708. Very good condition.
