Victorian Sampler, 1841, by Mary Croesley. The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, mainly in cross stitch. Meandering strawberry border. Colours green, light brown, dark brown, silver, blue. Signed and dated, 'Mary Croesley. Her work finished in the eleventh year of her age. 1841'. A good set of motifs, including a house with a well worked lawn and garden, blossoming trees, potted flowering plants and flowers. Framed in an old, possibly original, wood frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is tacked to a wooden board. Frame sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Period: 19th Century Condition: Good. Good. A few holes, which have been backed. No stains. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.
