Hanging lights have been used as decorative focal points for rooms since the early 20th century. In Swedish mid-century design, where interior lighting is of particular importance, designers managed to master the art of light without disrupting space perception.

A model like this can easily create an intimate and cosy experience in a dining room or enhance the ambience of a living room with a warm glow, without creating harsh shadows. This lamp can also draw attention to any architectural element, guiding the eyesight with a strong first impression. Crafted from brass and a lace fabric inner shade, and thanks to its minimalist form and neutral colour palette, this piece is quintessentially Scandinavian modern. While the rod and canopy have an understated look and direct the eye to the body, the main decorative feature of this lamp is the outer brass element that seems to “cage” the lace shade. The result is a charming playful twist to a rather simplistic design. The airy arrangement of the outer brass further accentuates the separate elements and the quality of the execution.
