Lounge Chair CH-22 by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen and Son
-
Description
The Hans Wegner CH22 lounge chair is a design created by Danish designer Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn. It is a low armchair with a solid wood construction, featuring characteristically shaped armrests and a paper cord seat in the traditional envelope weave. The chair’s refined joinery is evident in the finger-joined corners of the seat frame, with the forelegs locking into contrasting wooden wedges. The distinctive back shell in form-pressed veneer is accented by oblong cover caps—an elegant and recognizable detail. Made of solid oak with the original paper cord seat. Produced in the 1950s. Based on the label, the chair likely dates to the 1970s or early 1980s, during the original production period at Carl Hansen & Søn’s workshop in Odense. Vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age.
