This elaborate Janus statue is a rare example of an Ibibio free-standing figure to recall a well-defined ancestor in what seems a European outfit .The Ibibios lend supernatural powers to these statues which are also used during divination sessions.
Cette statue élaborée de Janus est un exemple rare d'une figure autonome Ibibio rappelant un ancêtre bien défini dans ce qui semble être une tenue européenne. Les Ibibios attribuent des pouvoirs surnaturels à ces statues, qui sont également utilisées lors de séances de divination.
