Description
A fine engraving by the German-American artist Rudolf Cronau (1855-1939), depicting a bustling Western town during the height of American frontier expansion. Cronau's training at the Dusseldorf Academy is evident in the precise draftsmanship and documentary detail used to record the pre-settlement landscapes of the American West for a global audience.
Circa 1885, this original period work was produced during the artist's most prolific years documenting the American frontier.
Engraved on paper and presented in a frame - showing a naturally aged character that confirms its long history. Rooted in the Realism tradition, this piece belongs to the important body of 19th century Western Americana that captured the spirit of a changing continent with honesty and artistic warmth. -
