Description
An elegant mid-19th century Gustavian style bureau, circa 1840–1850, painted in a soft blue with interior details in antique white. The upper section functions as a secretary, enclosed by a fall-front flap decorated with a centrally positioned rhombus motif, carved with fine millings. Inside, the fitted interior reveals twelve small drawers with brass knobs and a central storage compartment, designed for organizing correspondence and personal documents. The lower section is configured as a sideboard, with two paneled doors, each decorated with matching rhombus carvings, opening to reveal adjustable shelves with a movable system for storage versatility. Raised on tapered legs, the bureau combines stability with refined neoclassical proportions. Both lower doors lock with working keys. This piece beautifully blends form and function, offering timeless Gustavian charm and practical utility.
