This bold and uncommon French Art Deco vase, attributed to Jean-Baptiste Quoizet, is a sculptural masterwork of interwar modernism. Designed with a daring architectural sensibility, the piece features a central spherical body encased by four thick rectilinear fins that act as both structural supports and aesthetic counterpoints. The form suggests influences from Cubism, Brutalism, and even early machine-age abstraction—yet retains the warmth and tactility of hand-crafted studio ceramics.

The surface is coated in a richly textured ivory and olive glaze with deep crackling (crazing), lending visual depth and a beautiful aged character. Golden ochre tones peek through the angular crevices, while a gentle iridescence shimmers under light. This complex finish enhances the geometric construction, creating a powerful play of light, shadow, and texture.

Stamped underneath with the impressed mark “Quoizet”, the piece hails from a lesser-known but increasingly recognized French studio active during the 1920s and 1930s. Works by Quoizet remain relatively rare on the market, prized for their unique forms and modernist sensibility.
